Food & Wine 2010 Reservations

We’ve planned a pretty busy schedule for this year’s Epcot Food & Wine Festival (for more details check allearsnet here, disney food blog here, and disney world’s website here). And this doesn’t include all of the Eat to the Beat concerts we want to attend!

Welcome to “Extra Walt Disney World Magic”

— please scroll down for new content during the month of September —

Our goal is to review the EXTRA activities available at Walt Disney World that are not included in your theme park ticket… fun things that many casual visitors (and even some WDW-fanatics) may not know about…

Random Notes from Backstage Magic Tour

(originally posted on FrugalDinks May.19.2010)

I was cleaning out my bag last night & ran across some notes

(granted, they’re skimpy notes by my usual standards, but there wasn’t a lot of opportunity to take my usual voluminous tomes)

Electrical Energy – WDW has three power plants & they must buy more power from

Our Backstage Magic Tour – Part 2

(originally posted on FrugalDinks May.14.2010)

Now, back to the Backstage Magic Tour.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The first thing we noticed as we drove backstage on the big cruise bus – backstage is “finished” – it looks like a hollywood studio – with good reason, it used to be a working studio.

Our first stop

Our Backstage Magic Tour – Part 1

(originally posted on FrugalDinks May.12.2010)

Yesterday, we took the Backstage Magic Tour; this tour was focused on the four WDW theme parks and provided a glimpse of what goes on backstage to create the magic we all enjoy.

Right up front, while we enjoyed the tour – we’re big readers, I’m a particularly avid

Wilderness Back Trail Adventure – another Segway Tour

On May 8th 2010, we (Nick, Kate, Calvin & I) went on the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure (see allearsnet for the basic rundown) – and was it ever fun! So much so that Nick & I are ready and willing to do it again!

We met our guides (Ron & Sean) at the bike barn

“Nature Inspired Design” Segway Tour at Epcot

On April 27th 2010, we went over to Epcot for the “new” Nature Inspired Design Segway Tour; so new that it wasn’t listed on WDW’s website.

There are spoilers in this post – so skip it if you’re worried about seeing something you want to be a surprise; although I assume if you’re here at

Golf & Lunch

Nick arranged a 9:40 tee time for Oak Trail [1]; as it was just the two us, we were paired with another couple. Thankfully, they were closely matched to our skill level (little or none) and we all agreed to have fun and NOT keep score. The weather was lovely, our companions quite nice, and

Miniature Golf – Sand Course @ Winter Summerland

We had a rather nice Sunday a couple of weeks ago – it wasn’t March-in-Orlando-nice, but it was better than it has been this winter – Nick told me to pick what we were going to do outside, because there was no way we were going to waste the day by sitting inside <grin>.

I

Miniature Golf – Gardens Course @ Fantasia Gardens, Dolphin & Swan Hotels

The day after we played at the Sand Course @ Winter Summerland, we went and played the Gardens Course at Fantasia Gardens. Another course we’d never played, another goofy golf course, and not as much fun or as interesting as the Sand Course.

We did not get low scores on this course, however, we
