Hanami, a good tasting – 2013 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival

The tasting booth in Japan has a number of interesting items, including a sandwich made with noodles! However, we decided to start with something that we have some familiarity with…

Chirashi!

Food

Frushi (Fresh Strawberries, Pineapple, and Cantaloupe, rolled with Coconut Rice, atop a Raspberry Sauce sprinkled with Toasted Coconut and Whipped Cream)

Chirashi Hanazushi (Grilled Salmon, cooked Shrimp and Crab Stick, over a bed of fragrant Ginger Rice with Volcano and Dynamite Sauce)

YakiSoba Pan (Fresh grilled Carrots, Onions, and Cabbage with Japanese noodles and Teriyaki Sauce served on a bun with Mayonnaise and Beni Shoga)

Green Tea Flan (Silky custard with macha green tea and caramel glaze)

Beverage

Yozu Rita (Frozen blend of Tequila, Triple Sec, Lemon and Lime Juice with a hint of Yozu)

Fruit Sake (Peach infused sake)

Hana Awaka Sake (Sparkling and refreshing sweet sake)

Frozen Kirin Ichiban (Innovative draught with a refreshing Frozen Foam (lime) topping)

The Chirashi Hanazushi was surprisingly good. The “Grilled Salmon” seemed to us to be a paste of smoked salmon. The chirashi was accented with a few green edamame (yum)… All in all, this gets a 7 out of 10 from us and we’re likely to recommend it (in fact, we already have) and to eat it again…

Chirashi Hanazushi

Chirashi Hanazushi – the salmon is the small pink blob under the shrimp’s tail

The shrimp was butterflied & retained a small bit of it's tail (for appearances)

The crab stick was quite plentiful

The sticky ginger rice was quite good, especially with the two sauces... this dish wasn't under sauced or over sauced (yay!)
