Zapiekanki – “cheese toast”

Zapiekanki – Toasted mushroom, carmelized onion, and cheese bread with house-made ketchup

We tried this twice – once when we were looping the booths with a large group of friends (we thought it was wonderful, we were famished) and again on a quiet afternoon, just the two of us (we thought it much less wonderful, we weren’t terrifically hungry).

The bread is nothing special.

The mushrooms have a nice flavor, although there seem to be fewer on this serving than on our first serving (EatingWDW has a photo that’s closer to our first serving).

The onions were sweet and slightly caramelized.

Nora is a big fan of the house-made ketchup.

Overall, 1-10 (1=never ever again and 10=gotta have this 2 or 3 more times), nora gives it a 5 and nick gives it a 4; average is 4.5/10.

Again, we aren’t sure if the difference was in our taste buds and hunger or if there was truly a difference in preparation; we suspect a combination of both!
